Getting back into the writing swing!

Hi all!

It's Friday! TGIF! I hope everyone has a pleasant weekend. The Cats are undefeated so far so I'm looking forward to the game tomorrow. :) Go Cats!

I'm trying to get back into the writing swing of things. I made myself take a break over the holidays. I had two releases in October and needed the breather, especially during the hectic events of the end of the year. But now that's over and it's time to get back to it, but it's been surprisingly hard. Work is incredibly busy and by the end of the day, once the girls are in bed, I'm beat! :) There's no creativity or energy in me! lol...

Fortunately, I have an easy weekend coming up (no work to do) and a house that only needs a light cleaning so I'm going to give a go. I've got a story that's just itching to make its way onto paper (or, er a laptop, as it were) . :) Wish me luck!!

Book signing at Joseph-Beth Booksellers in Lexington

Hi all! Sorry I've been so long in posting. October was so crazy busy with school parties, trick-or-treating, book signing, and work that there was no slowing down to gather thoughts and post an intelligent summary of events. :)

Finally things are resuming to the normal, only-slightly-less-busy pace, so here I am. :) Halloween was terrific (still haven't downloaded pics of the girls yet) but they were very cute and we had a great time. My mom was in town and enjoyed trick or treating with us. It was so nice to have her and Paw here with us. The girls enjoyed handing out candy with Paw after trick or treating.

The book signing on Halloween of Night Bites was awesome! I sold all but two of my books and left those for the book store to put on the shelf. Those have already been sold (I was happily informed when my friend went to buy her copy - thanks M). Yay! It was a great experience and the staff at Joseph-Beth Booksellers were stellar! They provided food (the most delicious lemon bars - OMG!) and really pulled customers into the atrium where the Ky. Romance writers signed. It was such a pleasant place to do a book signing. I can't wait to have another one there. :)

Thanks to everyone who came by and let me sign a book for you. It was my absolute pleasure! I enjoyed talking to you all.

Thanks to the KRWA and Deb in particular who organized the signing for us. They are all such a great group of people and have made me feel very welcome as the newbie in the bunch. I've learned and grown so much as a writer since joining the group earlier this year. Thanks!!

I have pictures of the signing too. I'll get them on here as soon as I can. :)

Kentucky Blood Lust release!

Hi all! It's been a wonderful week. It was fall break and we spent a fun week together and with family. We've watched movies, gone shopping, spent time in TN with family, & saw Widespread Panic and The Allman Brothers.

Kentucky Blood Lust was released on Thursday at Extasy Books, and my hubby and girls made a special celebration dinner and dessert. Check out my cake! It was dee-licious and so very sweet. I felt so special. I love my family.

I'm smitten with the characters in KY Blood Lust. I enjoyed writing the story and I look forward to continuing this series. I definitely want to hang out with these characters more. :)

Here's a short teaser for ya:
Sin, was that what he said to call him? He couldn’t have a more appropriate name. Common sense told me to stay away from a guy with such a name, but I’m not sure my good sense was in charge of things right now.
What was he anyway? A vampire, a demon—at this point, anything is possible. If there are creatures, like what I saw in the vision in the world, then I wouldn’t be surprised to know vampires, werewolves and fairies existed, too. So what was Sin? He spoke with an accent, an Irish one at that, in a low, husky voice that sent shivers down my spine. I was a sucker for a man with an accent...

October is a big month!

I have lots of exciting happenings this October. Family fun, concerts, Halloween - all good times that I'm looking forward to. I love the fall season and October.

On the writing front, I received my print books in the mail today. Night Bites is here!! I'm over the moon!

I'm looking forward to the book signing at Joseph-Beth Booksellers on October 31st, from 1-3 pm, in Lexington, KY. Come out and visit me!! I'll sign my book for you! :)

I'm excited to say that I have two releases in October! Kentucky Blood Lust is my second new book. It's due for ebook release on October 15th. It's a frightening and sensual story about a Druid and a psychic and their battle against a dark Druid and an evil demon. I'll keep you posted on these releases!

I hope you enjoy the cool fall weather. Take pleasure in the fall foliage, have a big pot of chili and buy a pumpkin or two. :)

The newest addition to our family!

Here's the latest addition to our family -- Dixie, our very cute chocolate lab. The girls love her!! And although she's already chewing the plants and side of the sofa - I LOVE HER TOO! :) I'm sure it's going to take some time to get everyone focused on anything other than our new sweetie...

I love the fall season. I love football games, a big pot of chili, fall leaves and their beautiful color dotting the mountains of Kentucky, cool walks at night, and leaving the windows open to get that fall fresh air. It's a great time of year. Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. :)

This time of year just makes me happy. Officially, fall doesn't start for another week but it's already fall in my mind. I hope everyone enjoys the season!

Home Grown Veggie Goodness!

Hi all!

I love this time of year with the veggies coming in. My husband and I grow tomatoes (we need to make salsa because we have more tomatoes than we can possibly eat), squash and zucchini (which have actually already played out but I still have 4 loaves of zucchini bread left), green and red peppers and onions. My parents have sent me home with corn and potatoes and beans...yum yum!!! I love all of this delicious, healthy food!!

When I was a kid, I totally didn't appreciate having this kind of food around. I wouldn't eat tomatoes or squash or zucchini. Thankfully, as an adult, my tastes have matured and I can't get enough. It's so nice not having to buy vegetables at the store! :)

So if anyone has a good salsa recipe...send it my way!

Back to school!

Summer break is almost over. My oldest starts back to school next week - 2nd grade! I'm sad it's over -- pool days, sleeping late, and staying up late watching movies. :(

Camping Fun!

Hello all! It was our first real camping trip with the girls (age 7 and 2). It was a blast! We learned a few things we'll do different the next go 'round, but it was so much fun. We hiked and played and cooked delicious food.

Why does food always taste better when you are camping? :)

Once we got them down to sleep in the tent, my guy and I played cards by the fire. I'm ready to go again!

I love vacation.

Week long vaca!

Hi all! After tomorrow, I am off work for a whole week!!! I am so excited about this. It is long overdue. lol

Since we remodeled our kitchen, there'll be no trip to the beach this year but I do have a week of relaxation ahead. Pool time, camping, shopping, napping...sounds like heaven. :)

I love summer and I love birthdays! My mom came to visit for my birthday. We went shopping for the day and then she made a fabulous home-cooked meal for me and the family. She had ordered a birthday cake from my favorite bakery and picked up ice cream from Bruster's. My husband and girls and mom made the day so special. Not to mention my sister, family and friends that sent me gifts, cards and birthday wishes. I am truly blessed! Thanks so much everyone!! I can't express enough how much you all mean to me. :)

Happy Father's Day!

Hi all!

I hope all of the proud papa's enjoyed a pleasant Father's Day this weekend. The girls and I fixed pancakes and bacon for our guy. Then we had brats grilled for dinner - it was a guy's food dream...lol.

We bought him a canopy to put over our picnic table as his gift. He's wanted one for a while, and then I helped him work on a couple of projects around the house that he's wanted to complete. He was a happy man! :)

It was a simple thing to do for a man who means the world to us. Happy Father's Day!!

Busy weekends

Hi all! I don't know about you but we have had so many busy weekends lately. At this rate, summer break is going to fly by! :) Last weekend was the Ride for the Red Cross. That was so much fun...and for a good cause! It's the longest ride my husband and I have gotten to enjoy together since he got the motorcycle a couple of years ago. Thanks to the grandmother's for helping it happen. :)

This weekend was another good one. Friday night was spent at a friend's house for a cookout. We went hiking at Camp Nelson on Saturday. It was a hot but wonderful day. And despite the fact that we were all hiking in poison ivy, we enjoyed exploring in the woods. After a going a long way, at times carrying the girls on our backs (yes, even the 7 yo), we all pretty much crashed when we got home. After church on Sunday, we finally had our first day of nothing to do in weeks!! I laid out in the sun, the girls napped and the hubby went for a ride. We also harvested the first veggies from the garden, a green pepper and squash. Simply terrific! :)

Happy Anniversary to my Mom and step-Dad. hehe They got each other the same card!! :)

Happy Anniversary to me!

It's my 13th wedding anniversary today - although we've been together for almost 19 years now. We lived together for almost six years before we got married. We were pretty sure about each other by that time. :)

Now here we are, two kids later and I love him as much as ever. He is the hero in every book I write and I'm still just as attracted to and crazy about him as ever. He's the sexiest, most thoughtful, and sweetest husband a woman could have (I'm not biased! lol) and the kindest and most lovable father my girls could have. He is the kind of guy that helps his family and friends because he strongly believes in helping other...and he's my best friend.

I love my guy and I am so lucky and blessed to be his wife.

Memorial Day 2009

We didn't get the rain called for in my hometown so it was sunny and hot through the weekend, and I spent an enjoyable three days with family and friends.

Where does the time go?

Hello all!

So it's been a busy time for me lately. I know I'm not alone in that. Life is hectic. I have no time to do so many things that I want to do. I would love to have lots of free time to plant flowers, hike or play tennis with my guy and girls, or lay out in the sun, but alas it's not meant to be. :)

Still, I can't complain...I have a good albeit busy life. I'll manage somehow to fit time in, here and there, (if only a sliver or a speck of the day) to do those things I enjoy. Otherwise, I'll keep working, chauffering, writing, cooking, and cleaning/tutoring/maintaining my kids, husband and house and maybe eventually it will all get done and we'll go outside to play. lol

Oh! Did I say that I am getting new tile in my foyer and kitchen? I can't wait! Change is good.

Lovin' the 80's

Hello! We've had two days of weather in the 80's. It's been fabulous!! We've been outside the whole time. :) My parents came for the day on Saturday and me and the hubby got to take a ride on the motorcycle while they were babysitting. After they left, my daughter's friend came over for a few hours. It was a really wonderful day.

I planted flowers, tomatoes and peppers too and my onions and herbs and zinnia's are poking out of the soil. Yay!!

Well, it's back to work tomorrow. Have a great week everyone!

Hello! I just wanted to give a quick report on my book signing. I'll download my pics soon. :)

I LOVED it! It was so much fun! I can't thank my family and friends enough for their fabulous support. It was awesome to look over in the cafe and see them congregated and having a good time after signing a book for them. :)

I had no idea what to expect really but the event exceeded all of my expectations. The stream of visitors by the table was steady and I enjoyed talking to them and signing my book for them. I sold all but three of them! Yay!

The dinner afterward was fun too. I enjoyed meeting the very interesting members of the KYRW. I am so happy to be a new member of that group. There is a lot of talent and knowledge with this group of ladies and I look forward to getting to know them.

The workshops today were so very beneficial. I am re-inspired about writing and have so many new tips and tricks to apply to the process. Thanks so much to the presenters.

All in all I can that I am very happy with the weekend. It's one I will remember fondly for a very long time.

I hope everyone had a terrific weekend. I enjoyed a fabulous time with the girls. We stayed up late and talked and ate Ethiopian food and had a great time. I am always happy and recharged after a weekend with my friends.

It's Friday again! TGIF! Can't say it enough. Not that I have any big plans for the weekend -- watch the UK game and work on de-cluttering my house. :) But I do love a rest from the day job and working out (which I wake up at 6:20 to do M-F). SO I LOVE the weekends. lol

I have some incredibly awesome news!! I have been asked to participate in a book signing with a talented group of Kentucky authors in the KYRW 2 day writing event. I can't tell you how honored I am to be included with these ladies. The book signing will be at Barnes & Noble Booksellers in Lexington, Ky on Friday, March 27th from 6-8 pm. I am both excited and nervous about my first book signing. Yay!!! *doing the happy dance*

Authors and aspiring authors in the area, be sure to sign up for Saturday's workshops (last day of the 2 day event - March 28th). There's lots of useful tips and advice from the experienced authors hosting the seminars. I look forward to them!

Great Weekend & Super Bowl!

Hi all! We had a great weekend!! My littlest turned two and we had a party for her. :)

My wonderful family visited and I love when they all gather at my house! I have the best family in the world! They are all so generous and loving!

Then we had a super bowl party and invited our good friend's over on Sunday. It was a fun time and a great game!! Very exciting!

Hello all! Check out what we are living in right now!! It's so bizarre all of this ice and snow and kind of exciting! If our electricity goes out, I'll be singing a different tune. As of now, we are safe and happy if only a bit crazy from cabin fever. :)

I love snow days!

I woke up this morning and snow was everywhere! It was awesome! The day was about sleeping in, watching the inauguration, sledding, making snow angels, playing guitar hero and the Wii. We thoroughly enjoyed our day!

Well, we got through another year! 2009 is here!!

Happy Holidays and my new hobby

Hello friends! I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the season. We are busily counting down the days until Christmas in my house. I still have some gifts to wrap. :) I look forward to being with family and friends next week.

In the meantime and in what little spare time I can manage, I have picked up a new past-time. I've bought graphic software and have been exploring the world of banner-making! Authors use them frequently for advertising online. I recently purchased one myself and then I wondered why I couldn't just do it myself?

At the very least, I'm enjoying doing it. Check the bottom of the page for view of the banner. Thanks for taking a look-see for me. ;o)

Birthdays, Christmas shopping and parties - oh my!

Hello friends! It's been a busy few weeks -- sorry I've been absent. We've been covered up with illness, family visits and parties but I'm starting to come out of the fog. ;) yay!

My daughter had her seventh birthday party this weekend at Bounce U. It was so fun!! All of her friends loved it when the adults decided to do some bouncing too! What a great place for a party. She is growing up so fast - it's something to see. My youngest is quickly following in her big sister's footsteps too. My girls are quite amazing - they are my life!

My family was also in town for our annual Christmas shopping weekend. We shopped for 12 hours! That was a marathon for us! We've never gone that long before. We were all exhausted by the end of the day but my hubby and my brother-in-law still made it to the late viewing of Twilight! I loved it by the way! Now I only have a couple of gifts left to pick up and my shopping is done. Come on Christmas! I'm ready!

On another note of upcoming events, eXtasy books and The Romance Bistro are having their Christmas parties this week - Dec 12 - 14! Be sure to drop by those locations for fun contests, prizes and excerpts! I hope to see you there.

It's a cold, wintery weekend here in Kentucky. Brrr! I have a big pot of chili in the crockpot and UK football will be on TV tonight. Yay! I plan on snuggling under a warm blanket and relaxing through the day.

My six year old has a friend over today and then she'll be going to the friend's house for a sleepover. I love cozy, peaceful weekends at home. They come by so rarely. LOL :)

Hello all!!! Happy Fall! Despite the drought and lack of real fall color, the cool air says its here. We've enjoyed the warm days and cool nights.

Here's a pic I took from my flowerbed and then manipulated it in software. Isn't that cool? I love my flowers.

Next week is the release of my seventh book - Keeley's Curse (a re-release of the original). Woo hoo!!! I am so excited!! I hope you all enjoy this revised edition now with eXtasy Books.

Hello! I've been excited by the cool fall weather. Time for the fire pit and roasting marshmellows and tail-gating and football!

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. I love all things spooky! I can't wait for the scary movie festivals that'll start any day now on TV.

Hello! I hope everyone is doing fine and enjoying their weekend. I've had a nice weekend with family and watching my daughter's soccer game and UK football. GO CATS!!

Last night we celebrated my brother-in-law's birthday at our house -- grilling salmon, shrimp, and a potato, green pepper and onion mixture. Mmmmm!! We finished it off with a coconut-cream pie (his fave). Dee-licious!! Happy birthday Allen!

I went to the bookstore today -- my favorite place to go and bought Jayne Castle's Dark Light. Can't wait to start it!

That's been my weekend. I am excited to see True Blood tonight on HBO.

Happy Labor Day!

Hello!!

Happy Labor Day!! I hope everyone was able to rest or play but certainly not labor today. Although it was hot, we were outside most of the time -- riding bikes, planting mums, or hitting the tennis ball. It was fun day with family!!

It was a great weekend overall. I got Keeley's Curse finalized and submitted and am now waiting on edits. Yay!

Not to mention, UK won their football game against Louisville on Sunday!!! Go Cats!! hehe

Keeley's Curse new cover!!

Hi all! As I have already shouted to the rooftops -- but I'll do it again ;) -- Keeley's Curse is being re-released with eXtasy books!!

The story was originally written for a contest with guidelines no longer than 20K word length. For this new release with eXtasy, I expanded the existing version. I fully developed the characters and the story since I wasn't working under a count restriction. I can't tell you how happy I am with this release!

Here is the new cover -- thanks Martine!! Scary isn't it? Truly this is a perfect story for Halloween. Mwwwahhhaaaahhaaa!

Hello friends!!

I'm back! Vacation was wonderful! We had a super time. Disney was truly magical and the beach was very hot but oh so relaxing and fun. We all enjoyed ourselves tremendously.

Now my oldest starts first grade this week and we are all back to normal. It's good to be home.

...AND...drum roll please....

I am thrilled to announce that Keeley's Curse is going to be on sale again!! I love this book and I'm so glad that it's going to be available again. It will be a revamped and expanded version of the original with a publish date of October 31st -- this werewolf story is the perfect Halloween treat!!! (Extasy Books is the new publisher of this book)

Fun weekend at the lake!!

Hello all!

We had a fab weekend at the lake. We spent one day there with my hubby's side of the family on their houseboat and then another day with my Dad on his pontoon. How fun! The girls LOVED it!! Especially the oldest who, by the way, jumped off of the top of the houseboat...twice! Well, I did too but I was surprised when she did it. :)

Then we had our birthday cookouts with our family -- roasted ham and a million scrumptious sides on Saturday nights (thanks Mom) and a fish fry and delicious desserts on Sunday. It was a terrific weekend -- one I won't soon forget.

Sorry the posting has been lax lately. I've been on the go continuously with work, picking up the girls from daycare and camp, working in the garden and flowerbeds, going to the pool, etc. Busy, busy...and unfortunately my writing time has suffered a bit, but I try to devote time to writing at least every other night.

Father's Day is around the corner and I am looking forward to celebrating the day with my sexy husband. The girls and I have a big day planned for him -- starting with breakfast and going on thru the day. :)

What happens in Vegas....

LOL...yep, I just got back from Las Vegas. How fun! I believe I saw everything there is to see on the strip including the Hoover Dam and Red Rocks park. Gorgeous! My niece and nephew are great tour guides and my mom is a fun traveling companion.

As fun as it was, it was good to get back home to my family. :)

Soccer is over and school is nearly over too...camps will be starting up soon and the trip to Disney is on the horizon! Yay!

Happy Mother's Day!

I hope everyone had a wonderful mother's day. It was a great day for me with the family! I got the Indiana Jones boxset from my guy and a plant and flowerpot that my daughter made for me at school. Fabulous!

My sweet hubby took care of dinner, baths and bed so I could have a little Mommie time with a new book. :)

The funniest thing was the picture that I took to send to the grandma's. Yes, I tried to create the perfect professional photo with a black background, the girls in yellow dresses with their hair fixed just so...unfortunately, my one year old was having NONE OF IT! She is crying in most of the pics though she still looks so precious in the little rocking chair and her pretty dress. That was quite the fiasco!! Definitely going the professional route next time....

Anywho, I hope it was a wonderful day for all the Mother's out there.

It's a job that is way underappreciated and taken for granted....

I loved tai chi!!

Good morning all! I loved my tai chi class last night! I am sore but it was great! I left feeling recharged and thankfully, the hubby had given the girls their bath and put them in bed by the time I got home. Whew! :) That was a nice treat.

I hope everyone had a nice Valentine's Day. We celebrated with the family on Thursday and then the kids were at grandmother's house for the weekend. Blessed adult time!! LOL

I did drop in to post a few excerpts at eXtasy's Love & Lust party! They had a rockin' time there! Congrats to the winner of my Valentine's goody package! Keep an eye out for info about our St. Patrick's Day party and contests!

Whoo-whee – The Cotillion is hot!!! I loved this futuristic book by Sophia Danu! The storyline took the control/capture fantasy to a whole new dimension for me. The lessons learned at the academy weren’t lost on Kylee! Jerek Talon is such a tough, rugged Master. These two don’t spend a lot of time talking, that’s for sure! Loved, loved, LOVED this story. The sex was orgasmic, the story superb, and I found myself pleasantly surprised by the ending. Kylee, may I borrow Jerek for my own cotillion? Bravo, Ms. Danu! For this story to have been short, it packs a powerful wallop! I couldn’t put it down, and greedily devoured each word, sentence, and page. In the year 2705, the ratio of females to males was at such a deficit on the planetary stations that the Galactic Administration passed the No Woman Left Alone Act rendering it illegal for a woman of age to be unmated. This legislation led to a movement in which women in the galaxy existed as little more than property of either their father or their mate. In the Beta Prime solar system, in particular, females were selected by their male owners on the planet Vega Fantasma.

Soon afterward, the Fantasma Academy became the Administration-sanctioned school for female education and procurement. It wasn’t long before legislation passed legally requiring all girls of age eighteen to enlist. When they were deemed ready for their début, each girl experienced the Cotillion…

EXCERPT:
She was pulled by her leash onto the stage. The glaring lights overhead momentarily blinded her and she lifted her hands to shield her eyes. Firm hands grabbed her wrists and jerked her arms to her side.
She blinked against the brightness only to then notice the announcer glaring at her. He jerked her leash. She stumbled at his yank but managed to navigate her way to a small bench. He guided her leash until she understood that she was to bend over the bench.
She panted in fear as she leaned, practically naked, over the small piece of furniture. A sharp crack rent the air and she jerked as a sting of pain seared her ass cheek. She shrieked as she was lashed a second time. Tingles spread across her bottom causing her to clench her legs together against the bench. She pressed against the hard surface.
The din of noise from the jostling males became a muted background as she entered a state of pure sensation. Desire curled her toes and her blood ran hot at her lack of control and domination. Hi! You ever have one of those days?? The long, busy kind that never seems to end? :) Anyway, after one of those days I was extremely happy to come home to find a new review of Kentucky Hunger from The Romance Studio. Yay!!!

I am soooo excited to announce that Kentucky Hunger is on the monthly best seller's list at eXtasy!!!! Yay! Thanks readers!!!!

AND here's my review from Dawn at Enchanting Reviews where I received a 4.5 out of 5 enchantments....thanks Dawn!!!

Here's a snippet of the review:

The plot was gripping. It kept my attention and kept me turning the pages well past the time I should have turned in for bed. The characters felt so real, I actually had a couple of déjà vu moments. Ms. Danu writes such that you are sucked into the characters' lives, and they feel like people you know. The sex was in this was a whole lotta naughty, and oh-so-good. The descriptions and dialogue are vivid. The world-building in the novel was great and definitely deserves a second glance. I hope to see a series emerge from this. Great story! I can't wait to read more.

Hello friends! After a long hiatus (with the little one and all), I am back and writing again! Yay!

I have a new story that I just have finished editing that will be released soon with eXtasy books. Be sure to keep an eye out here as I will announce the release date here first!

Kentucky Hunger is a hot, new story of sultry Kentucky nights, vampires, fierce hunger, and good food.

Here's a tempting teaser for you...

“Forget about me leaving. It’s not going to happen. I will have you.”

His confident assurance struck that reckless, independent part of Alana, the stubborn part, that didn’t like being controlled, so like an idiot, she said, “You’re way too sure of yourself.”

He growled and she heard something like “let’s see about that…” He lifted his hands to her neck, and softly but firmly wrapped them around the smooth column. She swallowed as his thumb pressed against the pulse that beat wildly there. She gasped when his other hand clenched a handful of hair and tilted her head back slightly as he pressed on her throat. He touched the very spot he ravaged at the bar, where Bernice said she sported a hickey. His fingertips pressed on the mark. Heat flashed through her body and caused her to arch uncontrollably. A moan broke from between her lips and she clamped them shut to stop the scream that threatened to erupt.

“You’re mine.” He whispered into Alana’s ear. He pressed the sensitive spot firmly again.

Climax raced through her, flinging her soul in every direction. It was the wildest, mostly uncontrollable sensation imaginable. Thousands of nerve endings tightened and erupted as euphoria spread throughout her body. It raged through her. Her body arched again and she cried out, helpless. His hands caught her boneless body when she slumped.

“Mine, Alana. You’re mine. Don’t ever doubt it because I’ll never let you go.” He rasped in her hair.

Oh my God. She realized he was right. He had only to touch her neck where he marked her, and she came unglued in his arms. What kind of spell did he put on her?

Atlantis Anthology
